Callum‘s News
You may have seen that the XCell Centre in Dusseldorf where Callum had his stem cell has been shut down after a change in German law following the deaths of 2 children who had had stem cell treatment. This involved a completely different procedure (stem cells injected directly into the brain) to the one Callum had (stem cells inserted via lumbar puncture) which has proved successful in that Callum can now lift his left hand to indicate choices!
So, although stem cell is not on the cards for the moment, please do not stop in your efforts to help Callum - he still attends the British Institute for Brain Injured Children (£945 per year), had his David Hart walker maintained ands adjusted (£400 per year) and always needs extras that are not provided by the NHS such as specialist clothing. Thank you, Jane x
We went to the Xcell Centre - in Dusseldorf not Cologne though as that is where childrens surgery is carried out. Callum seems different already, more awake and definitely more smiley, especially when there is a lady around!
Here are the photos of our trip Click here

From 23rd August-9th September 2010, Callum is attending intensive physiotherapy at the Footsteps Foundation http://www.footstepsfoundation.com/ in Warborough near Oxford.
He is spending a lot of time in a innovative physio tool called the Spider - here are some photos Click here

A fantastic charity football match and leg waxing were held in aid of Callum on Saturday 21st August 2010. Thanks to Wes, Lou, all the players, supporters and especially Dean who is now a lot lighter in the leg hair area! Final figures and photos are to follow.
Can you spare £1?
£1 to care! We have already raised £4.5k for Callum but have stalled a bit because of the financial climate. So, I am trying a different approach - if everyone could manage to donate £1 and post this message in their status (on any of the social network sites), I hope to reach many more people and not break the bank. You can donate on Paypal via this website or using the bank details given.
Thank you!

Our next project is to raise fund to take Callum to the Xcell Centre in Cologne, Germany for pioneering stem cell treatment. We are waiting for final figures but the estimate is 7,500-10,000 euros (around £10,000).

This treatment has helped many children and currently has a success rate of around 85%. Improvements have varied between regaining some limb movement to total recovery. Well worth a try! For more information, please see the links below:
